    1. Day I Arrive in Kigali

      On arrival in Kigali, you will be welcomed by Indulge Africa safari guide who will provide knowledge and assistance throughout your safari. You will be transferred Kigali Serena Hotel for overnight.

    2. Day II Kigali - Akagera National park

      Today after breakfast, you will be taken for a city tour of Kigali including the visit of the genocide memorial, visit Kimironko Market, Caplaki Crafts Village among others, You will have a safari briefing and your journey now continues with your safari to Akagera National park Dominated by the labyrinth of swamps and lakes that follow the meandering Akagera River, the most remote source of River Nile, Akagera National Park (1,075 km²) is archetypal African savannah; tangled acacia woodland interspersed with open grassland but above all, Akagera is big game country!

      On arrival, you will check –in at Magashi camp. You will have the rest of the day at leisure.

    3. Day III Akagera National park

      Spend the day in Akagera National Park enjoying game drives, birding and a boat cruise. Akagera is an attractive safari place to see, with the verdant tropical landscape of the wetlands plus the uncommon wilderness character of its savannah. Some of the wild animals you are likely to encounter include a large number of different types of antelope (such as impalas, elands bushbucks,topi, waterbucks and oribi)with giraffes, warthogs, zebras, buffaloes, olive baboons, and if lucky some of the 80 to 100 large elephants.

      The park is scenically dominated by the maze of swamps plus lakes that trail the twisty course of River Akagera, the most isolated source of River Nile; this is typical African savannah terrain of jumbled acacia woodland dotted with open grassland.

    4. Day IV Akagera National Park - Kigali

      Today after a relaxed breakfast, you will be transferred to Kigali for a check –in and you will have the rest of the day at leisure.

    5. Day V Kigali – Nyungwe Forest Lodge

      Today after breakfast, you will be taken for a city tour of Kigali including the visit of the genocide memorial.

      Your safari will now continue with your drive to Nyungwe Forest National Park. A The 970 km² of rainforest, bamboo, grassland, swamps and bogs in the majestic hills of southeast Rwanda is the largest remaining ‘island’ of montagnie forest in East and Central Africa.

      You will visit Nyanza and Butare, the historical seat of the Rwanda kingdom; visit the Royal Palace which has been restored, entirely of traditional materials, to its 19th century grandeur. The dome shaped Royal museum is steeped in history and tradition running back over three centuries.

      At the adjacent Rwesero Art Museum, modern Rwandan artists express their view of the world and Rwanda in particular through aspects of culture, gests and behaviors of the Rwandan people inspired by everyday life especially following the 1994 genocide and its tragedies.

      Further south at the University town of Butare, visit the National Museum which houses perhaps the greatest ethnographic collection in East and Central Africa. You will have lunch at a local restaurant, then continue to Nyungwe National Park arriving at Nyungwe one and only Nyungwe House for a check-in.

    6. Day VI Chimpanzee tracking- Canopy walk

      Arise at dawn then 0430 hrs. Transfer to the Forest for a Chimpanzee tracking experience. One also has a chance of seeing some of the other primates who ‘call’ Nyungwe home including Black and White Colobus, Greycheeked Mangabeys, Blue Monkeys, L’Hoest’s Monkeys, etc. You will return to the lodge for lunch and in the afternoon, you will be taken for a canopy walk. From the park information Centre, descend the 40º slant via a zig-zag foot path to the first tower deep in the forest valley for the 1½ hr walk on the Canopy Walk’s suspension bridge. The walk allows access to the upper parts of the forest, where one can see some unique ‘canopy’ species; apes, birds, butterflies, plants and insects, flowers.

    7. Day VII Nyungwe Forest National Park –Colobus Monkey Trek

      After breakfast, transfer to the park HQs for a half day forest trek in search of the Angola Colobus monkeys which can be found here in troops of several hundred; the largest, can be up to 450 individuals.

      Other primates likely to be seen during the trek include l’Hoest’s monkey and the grey-cheeked mangabey. The birds too are spectacular, though as in most tropical forests, one has to look harder. Giant hornbills, great blue turacos and red-breasted sparrow hawks are amongst the specials, 24 of them endemic to this section of the Rift Valley.

      Return to the hotel for lunch then in the afternoon, tour a nearby tea plantation; an excellent way of interacting with the local farmers, know them, hear their stories and challenges, and make friends.

    8. Day VIII Lake Kivu - Gisenyi

      Today after breakfast, you will depart for Lake Kivu in Gisenyi. Lying in the Albertine (western) Rift and covering most of Rwanda’s western border with DR Congo, Lake Kivu, the largest water body is one of Africa’s Great Lakes and the 6th largest in Africa. On arrival, you will check –in and relax on the beach or swim.

    9. Day IX Gisenyi -Volcanoes National Park

      After breakfast your safari continues with your drive to Volcanoes National Park for a check-in at Sabyinyo Silverback lodge arriving on time for lunch. In evening enjoy the lodge grounds.

    10. Day X Gorilla trekking experience

      Today after breakfast, you will be collected by your driver guide and you will be transferred to your park headquarter for briefing to start your gorilla trekking adventure at the foothill of the Virunga. On meeting the gorillas, you are allowed a magical one hour with them as you watch them feeding, playing and bonding with their young ones.

      A wildlife experience with the magnificent mountain gorilla is like no other. Return to the in the lodge for lunch and afternoon, you will be taken to visit the community (ex Poachers)
